No, no fish stories yet, but today we bought my wifes first fishing license, ever. She's not as excited as I am, but hoping she will get the addiction as bad as me. It will be great to have her along on my trips, and I'm most certain she will need a new pole   , instead of using one of my old ones. So either way it's a win win situation.
So if you could give her one piece of advice what would that be? Yes I'm trying to get her hooked on this sight as well. I feel everyone should fish.
Being from Aloha too  I can offer this advice:
Having your wife along with you to fish will give the two of you some exceptional quality time together in a peaceful naturalistic environment. No dinner or mall can provide you the serenity or humbleness of the sound of a river roaring over rocks while making gu-gu eyes at each other and then have that special moment broken up by FISH ON!!.
Good luck to you both on a hobby that can be enjoyed for a lifetime together

I would tell your wife to dress warm when fishing for winter Steelhead or for that matter any winter fishing. The cold weather is what makes my wife say home. So go out and buy the little women the best clothing and don't forget the heater.

Having the wife get hooked on fishing will probably be one of the best things you can do...one more thing you will have in common. One drawback is you can't tell her all the fish stories about the one that got away anymore.

Way to go Cutter,
Watch out though. All the skill and knowledge are no match for lady luck. My wife out catches me on a regular basis. Last year was our first year of fishing outside of an occasional trip to Hagg Lake or the Deschutes River. My wife filled her salmon/steelhead card. We won't take about how may I caught. Lets just say I had a few blank spots left. She had more keeper sturgeon also. Some of us just have to realize that we were put on this earth to drive boats, net fish, and clean fish. My wife and I have been together for almost 21 years. This past year has been one of our best together and I attribute much of it to the time we spent together fishing.
Anyway you look at it, you scored big time. Those hall passes are much easier to get if the wife wants to go along. Besides, how may people get to say they sleep with their fishing partner?
Do you have a boat? If so, I would start her out on sturgeon. Give her something with lots of action. She can have loads of fun on the shakers even if you don't boat a keeper.

Cutter, my envy is great, if only I could get my best friend to enjoy fishing too... what a wonderful world it would be. Teh best part is that you don't have to worry about her shopping while you're on the river. She will be with you. It won't be long till she is taking you along for your tag.
FM2, did you go to the river today and how did you do? Any problems getting there in the snow?

Dress warm in many layers for sure. Oh and from one woman to another keep a large poncho in the boat at all times. Nice to see more women anglers. Why I always ask don't more wifes fish. I better get my license too.
Here's a little humor:
A State Game Trooper in Oregon stopped a man. He was walking away from a lake well known for its great fishing. The Trooper asked the man, " Do you have a license to catch those fish?"
The man replied to the Trooper, "No sir, these are my pet fish."
The Trooper eyed him suspiciously and replied "Pet fish?!"
"Yes sir" said the man. "Every night I take these fish down to the lake and let them swim around for awhile for a little exercise. When I whistle, they jump back into their buckets, and I take them home."
"That's a bunch of hooey! Fish can't do that!" snarled the Trooper.
The man looked at him for a moment, and then said, "Here, I'll show you. It really works."
"OK, I've got to see this!" The Trooper was curious now.
The man poured the fish into the lake and stood and waited. After several minutes, the Game Trooper turned to the man and said, "Well?"
The man replied "Well, what?"
"When are you going to try to call them back?" the Trooper prompted.
"Call whom back?" the man asked.
"The FISH!" the Trooper yelled.
To which the man replied, "WHAT FISH????"
See ya on the river!

Hi Cutter ,I bought my significant other another fishing license this year. She wasn’t very excited ether.  She is real hard to get out fishing. I think it’s mainly the cold weather she doesn’t like. She fished a little bit with me up on the Deshutes River this year. She caught some nice Steelies.  But I just can’t seem to get her hooked (excuse the pun). My life would be a little bit easier if I could.
Snapshot, went to EC for a little while after church. Spent most of my time teaching my daughters (9 & 7) how to cast my jig rod. They loved it and did better than dad. It was funny to watch my youngest cast a rod that was more than twice her size but now I'm green with envy, she never got it tangled and didn't lose any gear  but give it to me and I will mess it all up   . I'm a proud papa watching these two.
I did hook one fish but lost it and that was it. Had a great time though. Keep in touch and we can hook up sometime.
