I regress....
But I have to know!
If you are in a bakery before you fish, what is your choice for boat or bank doughnuts?
If you are in a store?
OK, fess up, what is your doughnut of choice?
Mine...
Apple fritters in a bakery, unless you are at Garabaldi Bakery, in which Hookset turned me on to their carmel rolls... Or... some kind of outrageous pastry that Bev and Dot brought to our house. What was that you guys? What bakery? I WANT ONE NOW! The whole dang thing!
In the store, I can't help but resist the raspberry filled powdered sugar hostess thingies... (Bill is never pleased with the mess this choice makes) You know, the ones that last forever and still taste good? Something bad has GOT to be in those....
I know, this is a silly question, and I shouldn't have posted it...
I've been doing difficult things all week and weekend, and I just want to talk about doughnuts.
That's all. Just doughnuts.
I want one right now too.
Bring on the pastry!

I was pulled over by a cop once and he asked, "Mr. Schwartz, your eyes are red; you been drinking?" I replied, "And your eyes are glazed; you been eating doughnuts?" I prefer egg crullers. Like to think there's some protein in 'em.

Where is Cagey? You would think he could smell donuts in the word "donut" being typed and come running.
First choice in bakeries is the one in Garibaldi. yum yum yum...
I would have to say Cinnamon roll, the big sticky kind that are hard to eat without wearing along the way.

Jennie, I have to agree that those Hostess powdered jellies are pure evil. One time on the way to the coast to meet RT I picked up an 8 pack (I think it was the bonus pack with two free doughnuts) and by the time I reached lincoln city there was only one left in the box and arty wasn't even in the truck yet   Luckily they have started selling them in two packs. It takes a snow shovel to clean my truck seat after i'm done....

When will we EVER get Krispy Kremes here?
And when oh when will I get to try them?
If someone goes to Seattle, I swear I will pay them to ship me JUST ONE!
I don't care if it is two days old!
I want a Krispy Kreme dangit!

Krispy Kremes, I've had them in Arizona. You have to eat them fresh. They are best in the first 15 minutes. After that, they taste about like any other donut.

Helen Bernhard Bakery in NE Portland is excellent. Apple fritters are at the top of my list and Garibaldi Bakery is up there too. They often take the time to warm up my thermos when its been in the back of the rig and is freezing. Gotta love the service and great sandwiches too.

Oh iam here BOE, i have just been drooling over all the choices that have been posted. Apple Fritters,Carmel rolls, Cinnamon rolls, ooohh what a choice. Couldn't we just maybe have one of each plus a great big jelly doughnut.
Jennie, could we have another board spot to post the places that have excellent pastry. I could check them out and report on which place was the best. Apple Fritters, hmmm i want one.

Hey Jen, or anyone else that is interested in Krispy Kremes: I will be driving to Medford/Central Point tommorow (Monday), to look at the Fish Rite boat shop. I can bring fresh Krispy Kremes for anyone willing to meet me there.
You will find them tasty, but smaller than most doughnuts. They are kind of spendy, a dozen costs almost $6 at the stores.
Email me if you want Krispy Kremes. Alan
Krispy Kremes are waaaayyy over rated. Our church did a donut mission where a van was sent south to the nearest shop to bring back a truckload of them   so everybody could have one. I'm talking about a church with over 2000 members so that was a TRUCKLOAD and alot of donuts. This was per the request of the Pastor....LOL.. Hey Clark!!  are you reading!
Anyway, we didn't get them exactly fresh but they we ok. I would prefer a freshly baked apple fritter unless there would be a Krispy Kreme store nearby but by the time you would get one you could have had five fresh fritters

Krispy Kremes are the best by far, but have to be eaten hot right out of the frier with alittle glaze on them. There sould be a new store in the Beaverton area sometime this spring.
