1st -Just after Xmas I bought a Lowrance X15 loaded with GPS, installed it and took it out on a maiden voyage. It was supposed to have a duel frequency transducer but it would only recognize one. The Lowrance tech support was not much help, “send us the whole unit and we will fix it” 6-8 weeks turn around. I took my problem back to Fishermen’s Marine in OC where I bought it they were more than happy to give me a new transducer to try. It fixed the problem and I didn’t have to wait 8 weeks. If I had bought my equipment from Cabalas or other catalog houses I would be waiting 8 weeks to get my fish finder back.

2nd – In Tillamook today I stopped by Kimmels to get a couple new crab pots. He had better prices than any place in Portland and they rigged all the harnesses, ropes, and buoys. That place will get my $$$ when I am in town.

I have always like shopping at Kimmels, but their hours are the pits. When I am in Tillamook, it is to be fishing in the area. During Salmon season the used to be open at 6:00 AM, you could get tackle and other odds and ends, but now they dont open untill 8:00 AM. Usually, I am deep in my project by then. So, if I am ever there as a tourist, then I can Shop at Kimmels, otherwise it is whoever is open.

Fish on, It is mice to see that someone has something good to say about our local stores. We all shop at the same places. Nice write up and information on the crab pots. I too, have been treated well at fishermans marine in OC. I bought a pair of bib rain pants and the suspenders would not unclip. Can you imagine how bad that could make you feel when you gotta go? Anyway, I went into the store with the suspenders and they swapped them out when they had to use a pair of pliars to break through the defective ones.
