Ok the weekend is almost upon us. For those that are not going out on the Clack with the rest of the flotilla, where are you going? I have not seen many reports from the coast in the past couple of days other than the Wilson. Does that mean that the Nestucca is done? Same thing for Three Rivers? I know there had to be some one out this week some where other than the Clackamas the Sandy or the Wilson. How about the NF Nehalem? For those going out with the flotilla, good luck and have fun, wish I could be there with you!

You can pick up bright, late hatchery fish in most of those streams clear into Feb. but you will have to sort em' out and be careful what you keep.
Heck, the best fishing is in Feb. thru April when the natives are in. 90% of the crowds are gone cause they don't wanna fish for something they can't kill. When most Pdx-ers are on the Willamette or Columbia I am enjoying solitude battling very cool, hard fighting, LARGE steelhead on my favorite coastal streams. You will get more of a rush battling one of these beasts and watching it swim away from your hands than bonking a hatchery mutt anyday. Try it, it is good for the soul......

PS. Please no bait/baitdivers for wild fish!!! they will take lures, corky set-ups, flies etc. much more aggressively than hatchery fish and won't get hooked as deep. Also go barbless, you're gonna let em' go anyway.....

Hey thanks guys!! I knew that there would be others that are thinking like me out there. I am hopeful that with this rain we are supposed to get things will pick up again. I still have not decided where I want to go on Sunday. I may have to flip a coin. I have never been over on the Sandy and am kind of leaning that way but the Nehalem is sounding kind of nice as well. I will have to see how much rain we get. Thanks again and tight lines...
