On behalf of the Sandy River Chapter of the Northwest Steelheaders, I want to thank everyone who was on the Sandy last Saturday for their patience and goodwill. We had our 8th annual Frost Bite Follies with 36 Chapter members participating. Our Chapter members hooked 32 steelhead with 15 landed and 3 released. One member also caught a 14" cutthroat. We also collected approximately 400 pounds of trash from the banks as part of our river clean up. Amongst the garbage, we picked up tires, the gunnel rail of an aluminum boat and what was left of a raft. We also located an old oil tank that needs to be removed. We will come back with the appropriate equipment for removing the tank as soon as we can put together a work party. Thank you, everyone. We met some terrific people on the river.
