Eighty-nine years young and still out regularly. It paid off for Bill Ulrich as he displays his fine catch from this morning. Other ifishers insisted I post this for Bill. One other pic of same fish posted on picture gallery.http://www.ifish.net/uploads/5355179.jpg

Love to see that. I enjoy talking to those guys at the ramp everytime I launch my boat. Great group of old timers down there. Keep it up Bill

Way to go Bill!! How did that one get by me  Thanks Wiser? Very nice camera....i just might have to save up my pennies and get one of those. I printed one off on a glossy 4x6 so Ron can slip it in his B-day card he got for him.

Poor Bill, so excited after he landed the fish that he laid his rod down, went to back his truck up and ran right over it. Broken in five places. I know Bill cheated and said he was 89, but really not 89 till next Tuesday. Maybe a bunch of us could get together and get him a new rod to go with his old black 6001C. I'm willing to kick in the first 10 bucks. Maybe someone on the board would offer a discount?

My address is 3010 SE Oxbow Parkway
Gresham, Or 97080
There are usually a couple other ifishers around the boat ramp at Oxbow who would probably help with collecting $ for a replacement rod for Bill. We'll try to get him one by his birthday. Looks like $45.00 already. Thanks, I know Bill will appreciate it and use it.If you get out to the park boat ramp ask for Ron(Ryanfish.)I'll take the liberty to volunteer him in this effort too.Hope you don't mind Ron. I just know you're always around.

I have a Diawa Bait Casting rod that I do not use.It is a decent graphite rod that I would love to donate to Bill. It has caught several steelhead and has no skunky smell...hehe...I am in Salem. Anyone want to pick it up and deliver it? Happy Birthday Bill.

It is a 8'6" steelie rod. Not a trout rod.

Wiser? Not sure where you want to go with this. But I work in Salem and probably can coordinate with rhansme and get the rod on Monday. If I am not mistaken, Bill uses a spinning rod? I should be down by the ramp tomorrow - I will look for Ron and give him the doe. Those not in the know (non Ifishers) will probably think a lot of contraband going on (i.e., Amerman eggs and Marie's shrimp oil).

That would be great. Bill does use a casting rod. The one he broke was a ten footer from Cabelas. Guess it was sort of a favorite for him. Ron said he saw a similar ten footer by Shimano and knows someone with contacts for a discount. It's sure nice to see people come together to try to help someone out.
I'm not positive Ron will be around this weekend. Might be enough people to scare him off for a day.

Wiser? Ron did come down to the ramp today. I gave him my $10. Sounds like things are covered.

Glad you found him. My day off and I went into town :depressed: for a while so I didn't see Ron today. I know he got Bill a card and blew up the internet picture too. Thanks for helping out.

I should be in the Park sometime this week, I will look for you or Ron and Give you $10 to help cover Bills rod. If you already have it covered use it for something else along those lines. I drive a Silver Extended cab F-350 and if I ahve my boat with me it is a black Willies. I am pretty sure you have seen it a time or two last summer, keep an eye out.

Someone said to me, while looking over the happy faces at Buster's... "Don't you feel proud for getting these folks together?"
I can't take credit for it. It's the PEOPLE at ifish, themselves, that deserve to be proud.
You guys and gals are awesome!!!
Troy, for all the effort of putting that event together. Bev and Dot for their tireless organization and spirit. All of you, for your giving spirit!!!
And all of you for replacing this man's rod.
That is SO awesome!!!
I'm just darn proud to be a part of it!
I want to meet this guy!

Ron (Ryanfish) and I will put anything else we receive together into a gift certificate for Bill. Maybe we should put the gifyt certificate in his wife's name for taking such good care of him and sending him out fishing with us.Thanks STZ II
