Have been reading and learning from this forum for months. Just purchased a (new to me) jet boat. Pick it up today. Steelhead class on Sat.
Can anyone suggest someone to help me learn the fine art and science of responsible and safe jet boating? Have been boating for years, but not in a jet boat.
Have been reading the posts regarding new reels and poles. Great information.
Thanks
Jim

Since I have been wanting a lesson on jet sledding also, I say we take your boat and go learn the old fashioned way. I would be happy to drive  I say we start at Clackamette park and by the time we get to McIver park we should either be experts in jet sledding or swimming
I have been afraid to take my boat, but for some reason taking yours doesnt bother me at all. You should probably get a waiver written up along with higher limits on your insurance before we take off.
You probaby wont have to worry about putting that first dent/scratch in the boat after we get back, as it will probably be taken care of.
What did you order up in the way of a boat?
Any time you are ready let me know.

Hey
Thanks for the offer. The salesman said this boat "had been up the Clack and know where the rocks were. Even if it went aground, there would be driftboat fishermen to help push/pull it back into the water. Just remember to keep the lever all the way forward."
(great way to meet new people he said, everyone loves a jet boat)
Had them put a sail boat winch on the front and back to use if get really stuck. He said "the bottom was so strong that nothing short of a mine would damage it."
That used diesel really smokes but sounds powerful. He warned me it would sit low in the water in the back.
Thanks for the offer, will meet you at 0dark:30.
I will let you take it off the trailer even.

Hey B.O.E, I'm in the same situation....
I picked up a predator 200hp 140 jet used.
You CAN test drive it up the clack, name the day.
I'll call GIZ, maybe we can fish in between
mishaps. No sweat, it's insured.

No it doesn't have a diesel. Good story though. After reading about the duckworth this last weekend, the sailboat winches might be a good idea.
Its a 18 ft thunderjet with a 140 suzuki.

I guess you were one of the lucky ones. They called and said it was sold out until Feb.
Too bad, never been steelhead fishing and was looking forward to learning from the pros.
Only been out fishing three times , sturgeon fishing and for silvers on a friends boat around Astoria. Had a blast, he was gracious enouugh to allow me to use his rigs. I am at the just starting stage. Need to get good equipment and do it right. There may be other classes coming up soon, I will keep looking.
