How is the boat ramps off Hwy 22? Is the access road paved down to the water or do ya need a 4x4 to launch in the winter?

You probably still need a 4X4. You could contact the Forest Service which is located right across from the Mongold State Park where the ramp is. Good luck. Andy

Damien,
I launched last year at one of the lowest water levels in years at Mongold State park. It is a very nice low water ramp. It is paved all the way to the water. Good luck.

But when you get down there, steep and deep it is NOT.

Quite the workout to crank up a heavy boat. Especially when you have a fever because you just came down with chicken pox. Wait that's another story ---

The Ramp at Mongold is great! it is paved all the way down to the water. The only drawback is you have to back your rig quite a ways into the water to get your boat off of the trailer. Wear your Waders!

I'll try and post a picture of the 'ramp' later tonight. I took a half dozen of the mongold area around Dec 30th. The ramp looked like mud at that time.
