I used my wifes hairdryer for a little bit. Hold it about 12-15 inches away and then see if this will help.

The hairdryer should work. Next time, prior to joining them together, rub the male tip where the nostril meets the cheek; the oils there are just the right amount of lubrication.

If you get it apart successfully, try rubbing a candle on the male end of the ferrule. When you put it together again, set the two pieces about 90 degrees off. Push together snugly, then rotate the top half so the guides line up.

Hair dryer or warm water should do it. But you could also look at this way: a good excuse to go buy a new rod...lol That's if you're married. If you're single, then ANY excuse works when going to purchase any new fishing equipment. Of course nowadays, I keep coming up with excuses not to buy any new fishing stuff...lol
Anybody score any after holiday deals in the fishing section?

Riff, you got some good advice. Now go one step further. When you get the rod apart get some real fine sandpaper and gently put a shine back on the metal. Then lube it. I like to use grafite myself. It lubes real well and wont freeze. A small cannister of grafite lasts a long time and it works real well on the control arm of your outboard motors. The marine mechanics tell me that its the only thing to use to keep from sticking as oils and grease will not penetrate past the gaskets on the control arm. Jus my 9 cents worth. Cagey

A handfull of ice in a rag on the bottom sect. A hair dryer on the top section place the rod behind your knees and pull. When i put them together I use the oil from the side of my nose to lube it for future removal.
