What would you like to know? Are you drifting or banking? For a boater, there are only 6 primary launches to drift from for winter steelhead. Not to many bank access spots, lots of private land. Mostly a show for boaters. Over the last several years, this river has been very crowded. For some reason, lots of people from all over are coming to fish the Siletz. If your looking to escape the crowds, won't happen here with the limited boat launches.
The latest issue of Fishing and Hunting news had a good artcile about the Siletz that pretty much sums up this river. Guess that's one of the reasons for the increase in popularity.
good luck,
Gregg

The most popular drift on the river is Moonshine Park to Twin Bridges. A general rule of thumb is not to do this drift below 5.5 ft. unless you are very familiar with the water. All of the other stretches are very tame. A couple of things to look out for.........
The twin bridges ramp. If you aren't the first person to launch on a frosty morning, you will need to be extra careful when you put the boat in. The water tracks left by the first rig will freeze quickly and ice over the ramp. Back up carefully to avoid the icy spots.
The first town take-out. The ramp faces into the current (some great engineering) and can be difficult taking out at if you are drifing alone.
The second town take-out. Dirt ramp that is erroded at the base. There is a 2 ft. drop at low water.
With the water levels the way they are right now, I would focus on the lower river. I would advise referencing "Fishing in Oregon" for a river map and ramp locations. There is a shuttle service available on the river. The cost is $10 and you can drop off your money and keys at the Barton Store. Come February and March, be ready for lots and lots of company.

Yeah, Barton store is a little mechanic shop/video rental in Siletz. They have envelopes with a map of the river take-outs on it, and if you have a spare key you can drop it off as early in the morning as you'd like.
