Now that the year 2001 is gone, lets hear some highlights. I had my best fishing year ever and need to thank all the Ifishers for their info that contributed to it. Here are some of the highlights:
First flyrod steelhead
First multiple steelhead days.
First and definately not the last steelhead on bobber/jigs.
First chinook out of my home river.
Several trips with an Ifisher that offered me a seat on his boat without even knowing me.
Fishing with my dad and kids.
Jennie's hard work and commitment to this board.
My wife's tolerance to my fishing addiction.
Fishing and catching fish out of three rivers I hadn't fished before.
Figuring out the Drano lake summer steelhead mystery.
Thanks again to everyone for their forthcoming info. This type of spirit should be what fishing is all about.

The fish that got away (30+ pound Chinooks on a fly, 8 lb Rogue steelhead on 5-6 weight, two Sandy River coho brutes that threw my spinners). In all, best fall ever - 3 salmon, steelhead landed, 10 other hook-ups lost (yes, D. Johnson I read your post on how not to loose fish  ).
Low lights. Skunk at Buoy 10 and 14 hours without a hit on the Sandy this week (oooh, that is bad!)

Yeah thats it. Its the people you fish with. Its getting yelled at 'Quit fishing, the damn boat is full of tuna!'
Its watching the salt water fever claim another willing victim or two. Not to mention instigating/inciting those willing victims.
At a recent fete with a few of my regular fishing buds, we were pondering the last year. One question is what next? Did we do it all? Well there are few things left undone. We decided to give the Heceta Banks a try. And those Mackinaw in Odell lake need attention. Last but not least there is open water diving in the Ocean. I've done the bay diving thing on the west coast but now we want to go try Big Blue.
Last but not least, I'm pretty thankful for all that I learned from all of you. Thanks for being there and I hope the next one is as good or better than the last one.

1. Ditto - Best part of 2001 Mark!
2. Released, unharmed, over 30 chinook and steelhead, OF MY OWN. Too many fins or not open yet.
3. Unexpected 16 pound fin clipped Steelhead in March in the Multnomah Channel.
4. Made peace with Bigfoot.
5. Numerous folks scored fish in my boat.
6. Survived Bonneville springer season.

Happy New Year everyone! Feels like Thanksgiving when I stop to count the positive things that happened. Here are a few:
-Discovered Ifish. Received many awesome tips on this board. Thanks everyone. This seems to be where the 10% hangout.
-Finally got a jet boat, and fished my brains out! Bagged a limit of springers first trip out with it Feb. 18.
-My wife and father caught their 1st springers.
-Boated 35 springers, including one 37 pounder.
-Discovered sturgeon fishing. Had many fun trips in the estuary limiting the boat more times than not.
-Fished B-10 for 5 days and had a ball with Nookie-Monster and other buddys on board. Caught fish on the line, outside, up river, wow what a fish farm! Totally slayed um!
-Found hot summers on the Columbia very close to home.
-Made some new ifish friends and got out with them; Birdhunter, Bait Boy, Capt. Dan, Baldpate Basher, Hogtide, and Rags, met more of you at flotilla 3. Glad to meet you guys!
-Bagged my 3rd bull elk in as many years.
-First bobber and jig limit on Winter steelhead.
-First double on winter steelhead in the boat.
Let the good times roll!

Personally 2001, don't let the door hit you on the way out.
Got my cataraft. First fish to boat, courtesy Joe Superfisky, nice squawfish btw  First steelie to boat goes to Osprey. The king was mine.
Landed 0 steelhead in 2001.
Made up for it during salmon season:
X number of double digit days bankin'.
3 40+ chinook landed and photo'd.
back to back kings in as many casts: 35 and 32 lbs.
getting Fobbman into his first cuttie.
fishing in Oregon and meeting some of you gomers from down south.
Inaugural Wind River Clean-up Crew
The wig of death
The F.O.C.
team green
fishing Big Blue on Independence Day with my youngest bro and DanS: 22 people, 44 fish.
wood shampoo
Physically seeing a salmon landed out of the Chehalis.
greater confidence in spinners
Getting several newbies into this fishing, and now watching them excel.
becoming a better angler, and better human-being.
Being blessed with a group of anglers who have taken me under their wings is the best memory of 2001, and probably will continue to be, just have to change the year every year..lol Thanks guys, you know who you are.
