I thought I had a trip put together tomorrow with a couple guys to go to Tillamook (leave Portland around 7'ish) and crab thru the mid day and then drive to Seaside/Gearhart and take a stab at trying to find some razor clams (Maybe run to Longbeach instead of Seaside and dig Razors  )

Anybody interested in a short notice trip, let me know via email, Clamming tide isnt until about 8:30 pm +/- so we wont be back to PDX until around 11'ish with the late clam tide.

email me at Rjackalope@aol.com

BOE-

My daughter and I went crabbing today and it was pretty slow. Slowest I have seen it in a couple of months. Most pulls the traps were totally empty. I would try and make it there with some time to crab before high tide because we picked up nothing on the outgoing.

Thanks,

Bait Boy, ditto on the slow day. We went to your old stomping ground today and almost smacked a wet cow elk with her calf on the way over the hill.

The crabbing was slow and there was not bait to be had, all the normal haunts were closed. Yes we went through the 170 shad in the freezer. We finally bought some mackeral at the 76 station at a $1.50 for 2. Take bait...

We took just 8 home, at least there is enough to have a New Years party.

Good luck

Hey Rippin

What boat were you in today? Just wondering if we saw a fellow I-Fisher. We were in my neighbors Blue Water with twin radio whipps and a blue bimini.

That does sound familiar. I was in a white and blue Smokercraft with my 5 year old daughter. We had fishing rods as we were also trying to locate some sturgeon. No luck on either end...

The seats are filled

When I started to talk tonight about going crabbing in front my son, All I heard was "I wanna go, I wanna go, I wanna go........" There is no way he could make the long day I had planned so I modified the day so he can come along, I am skipping the clamming adventure and only going on the crabbing trip.

Pete volunteered to come along and show me how to pull each pot in less than 5 seconds so we can get to the next one pronto. He says he can pull all 9 pots/rings 20 times each in less than 3 hours    that will be 180 pulls in 180 minutes. I gotta see this.

Now do I leave the kid in the car seat, or do I take him in the boat  Sounds like Tillamook goes soft on child abandonment.

I'll get those traps up fast if you don't slow the boat down, but you're going to have to rebait them and get 'em back out quick as a wink for me to keep up my pace!

It's saver to leave the kid in the car. At the pace we'll be going we don't want to use the wrong bait!

Very enjoyable day on the water, company wise that is!! The weather sucked.

It was a lumpy windy white cap type of day. Very difficult to pickup the floats with current and wind. Spend the day getting tossed around like a rag doll, but we ended up with 17 crabs. Couldnt really get to where I wanted because it was just to rough to spend any time there.

A fun day in a "man versus nature" way ... good company, a nice ride in the SS BOE, sporting a very nicely executed new hard top ... OK, the sun roof is a little unusual, but that's temporary. Thanks for the day ... I enjoyed myself.

Hey Roy you need to post a picture of the new improved custom built "Roy built" top. I think we all need a hard top in Oregon.
