Sat: 27 bank fishermen at the boat launch and no fish caught by them. But its worth the time as you just might see some wonderful wildlife in the park (jk)

Saturday was pretty good at and below Oxbow. The tail-outs produced fish. Use small presentations with or without small baits. White and pink or plain pink jigs have produced in the tail-outs and slower deep water along seams. Small (3inch) pink worms have produced a few fish. Steelies or spinners should be productive. It was a little slower today. Only saw a couple fish at Oxbow. Those were taken by plunkers at the lower end of the park. The east wind has been making it a little tougher to get fish. I haven't heard anything from Dodge Park area but it should have plenty of fish and the wind shouldn't be a factor.
Good Luck

I was down on the lower river with my nephew. We saw two landed and one lost. One drift boat came in with a 15 lb+ fish - only bite of the day he said. We had one bite - boy was it a bite. Pulled the rod all the way into the river. We were fumbling around on the bank looking for some clippers we dropped and just heard the splash. No rod to be seen. Unfortunately (err, fortunately  ) the fish got off. The rod was about 15 feet from were it was on the bank in about 3 feet of water. Will try again tomorrow.

Mojo,

Is the pipeline no longer marked as private property? If it's open I may have to go give it a look. That's some beatiful water down therer.

My nephew and I fished the Sandy again yesterday (12/31). We started low and ended up at Oxbow. What a beautiful afternoon down by the ramp (unlike today I imagine). My nephew is a senior in high school and is thinking about the University of Oregon. He is also thinking about the University of Arizona. Wanted to get him his first steelhead. Anyway, it didn't happen but we had fun trying. Hopefully today's football score will convince him Oregon is the place to be.

Saw LOTS of fish. Two boats (one drift, the other pontoon) came in with 3 fish limits. Several on the bank at the boat ramp (though folks were saying it was slow). (Ron W.- saw three landed after you left). Lower river has slowed down quite a bit. I can't buy a steelhead and there are so many to be had. Right now, I am just not feeling confident and that has a lot to do with it. But I won't let myself get down and will keep at it.
