I'm looking for any info the readers of ifish have on american turbine pumps. Getting a new boat built and I'm putting a atp in it. What I,m looking for is what model of pump you are running and if you had any extras put on( like the new reverse gate) thanks for any info you send. tight lines

Hey, what kind and how big of a boat are you geting? Here in Alaska AT doesn't work well at all, the silt and so much junk in the water, sticks, brush etc! Most people use Hamilton 212 or three stages, the 212 packs a lot larger load and has a better reverse bucket, it also seems to be cheaper to maintain. We see boats showing up here with AT in them mostly Weld Craft or Alumawelds, they find out that you can't rebuild the impeller and the aluminum impellers dont last here. I guess they are cheaper than other jets and if you have a small boat they work ok. I was in your neck of the woods last April for the Salmon river races. We went on one of the tour boats up the Snake to Kirby Creek, it had twin 211 hamiltons,we also rode in a 24ft BENTZ with a Hamilton 241. Now that's a jet, 9.5 impeller rock cleanout and hydraulic reverse bucket. It's extremley fast at low rpm 2900 is 3300 with a 212 to match the same speed. We took out our old 1031 and put a 241 in a 24ft Wooldridge Classic,we pack alot of weight 160 gallons of fuel, just for the weekend. It's a 78 mile trip to a cabin, or 425 gallons of fuel gear for two people on a 1100 mile moose hunt for two weeks.

I have a AT-309 on my 19'6" Thunder Jet. Even though it has been run mostly in the lakes of Colorado, it's a good pump. We'll see if my opinion changes after I get more river time on it, after we get moved out there. Heres their site. Hope this helps.

PS I'm thinking that I should have gone with the 2 stage. The single is good out of the hole, however, I think the 2 stage is better.

Just the facts boys! Nothing wrong with an american turbine. The owner of american turbine holds the world jet speed record. The pump is a 5000lb rated pump. Which is more than adequate on most personal jet craft. It is a pressure pump which means your putting taller skinnier tires on the dragster. You don't get quite the hook-up out of the hole, yet you attain a higher top speed, and reduce R.P.M. at cruising speed. Which also saves you gas! But if you are into running big water and are concerned with cavatation you simply add a turbo induction impeller to the existing 309 pump. If its debris you are concerned with you can't beat a three stage pump. I wouldn't waste my money on a 2 stage and the Hamilton 212 is a great high thrust pump, yet a couple years ago at the salmon river races the river was high and full of debris. All the boys with 212's were on the bank with cleanout problems.
If you are ready to take the American Turbine to the next level. Check out the new hd-312. Much more like a three stage pump in performance. Just had oppertunity to demo one and it seemed to bring the R.P.M.'s down about 200 at equal cruising speeds.
Any Questions??
