I headed up to the Peninsula for a day of fishing, and ended up bringing 4 to the bank, three nates and one hatchery. My fishing partner caught two steelhead, and one MONSTER coho, over 20 pounds!

Here's a pic of the steelhead.

Well done and a great picture of your first and best of the year. Where's the oars? Or was that your anchor?
I take lots of pictures but none come close to the composition, resolution and setting. You really have set high expectations.

ARF ARF...Congrats Dogfish.

What a way to go fishing...wonder what the poor folks are rowing
Is that one of those mini helicopters or the full blown thing...very cool.
I see those buggers come humming over my head in Forks. Would be fun to fly the river basins....day dream every time I see them.

It is a 1985 Hughes two seater. Kind of cramped, but being that small makes it easy to land in tight spots. Not mine, a relative owns it.

It was pretty cool scoping out the rivers from above. You could see where the fish were holding, where other anglers were, etc. We saw 4 herds of elk while we were out, that was pretty cool, too.

Hi Mike,

I told Brad that I'd go when ever and where ever he wanted to go. It sure made the "drive" go by quickly. I think that I had an equally fun time during the travel time. We saw a few of the guides that Brad knows on the Quinault, and they were kind enough to open their fishboxes so we could have a peek from on high, and they were full. That was a different perspective.

He said that they charge upwards of $1000 a day for trips like this up in BC. I can understand why. And no, I was not the one flying that bugger, but I sure would like to learn.

We went looking for glass balls on the beach, but spotted none. We could have picked up 20 or more of those crab pot buoys. Talk about the ability to cover ground. We cruised at about 90 mph.

The glass ball search...thats great  . My brother commerical fished for years and that was the big "find".

Saw a mini copter on tv that was a one seater and it fit in the back of the pickup. Think it was a kit, been awhile so I forgot the name.
Thanks for sharing that picture.

Andy, when do we take the buzzard out ? I can help with gas.

We can put a warning on the belly of the chopper:

"If you can read this, you can potentially become blind because I chew red man."

Cool gig, I gotta see about getting me one of those. Helicopters, not relatives. At least this time...muh ha ha ha

Five years ago, I dreamed of going down the river in a drift boat...
Now, I am dreaming of flying down the river in a heli!
COOL!

Congrats on your fish, looks like your technique will be a hard act to follow. I'd say the edge is definetly up in the air.

Good luck the rest of this winter,

Gregg

Nice fish....ya always remember the first....also 1st class ride....you need to put floats on it and take the sticks with you and then you would be unstoppable...lol
Had to be an incredible trip...very envious !!!!

Winter Steelhead? The month is right, but where's the snow?

Nice fish and Happy New Year to all of you who are catching fish and NOT shoveling snow.

I have to agree with everyone else, Dogfish! Very nice fish and a really great way to get to them. I flew a year on choppers in the service and they are by far much safer than airplanes. All you need is a nice Huey and you can easily lift your driftboat along with you. Or...splurge and go for a CH-47 Chinook and you can load it inside along with everything you want to take.

Once you fly in one of those, you'll be hooked for life!
