To our friends at ifish:
I am writing this e-mail on behalf of the Sandy River Chapter of the Northwest Steelheaders. We are trying to get the word out about our annual Chapter fish-a-long, Frost Bite Follies, that will be taking place next Saturday, January 5th, on the Sandy River. I am hoping you might put this notice on your board.
Last year, our Chapter put 13 driftboats and 34 fishermen on the river for this members-only event, drifting from Oxbow Park downstream to Dabney State Park.
This year, it looks like our registration will be down slightly, but we wanted to give other fishermen the "heads-up" that this event was taking place. Fishermen looking for an uncrowded day on the Sandy might want to consider fishing above Oxbow Park or below Dabney. We do our best to be respectful of everyone on the river, but the sight of "the fleet" can be overwhelming to some people.
Also, as part of the event, participants will be assigned sections of the river for a litter clean-up project. We want everyone to know that our Chapter members are good stewards of the Sandy River and, along with enjoying a day of fishing, are committed to the enhancement of the river environment for everyone's enjoyment. In past litter cleanups, we have hauled out just about every type of garbage you can conceive of, including a living room couch!
We apologize for any inconvenience we might cause fellow fishermen next Saturday, but we thought sending out this message might help people better plan their day.
Ray Hinea, Past-President
Sandy River Chapter, Assoc. of N.W. Steelheaders
Frost Bite Follies coordinator
Note from Jennie:
Thanks guys! But... There seems to be a fleet on every river from top to bottom these days!
 Wave when you go by!
