View Full Version : Looking For Tuna Recipe
I tried a recipe once that had some kind of marinate which I can't recall (italian dressing?), followed by wrapping a chunk of the fresh tuna with partially cooked bacon, then broiled on the barby for a few minutes. I think that was the best fish I ever ate, but I can't remember the marinate. I tried it with just bacon the other day and it was still great though. Does anybody have a very simple fresh tuna recipe they'll share? If you know what ingredient I'm missing in my recipe that'd be a bonus.
Thanks,
Kevin

Try any italian salad dressing. Paul Newman's works great.

Get ahold of "live to fish." He grilled some tuna one night for me and basted it in something while he grilled it...I forget right off the top of my head what it was. I swear...I ate my weight in it!!!! It was some of the best fish i'd EVER tasted in my whole life! You WON'T be disappointed!

3 lbs tuna steaks
Marinade
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1/3 cup sesame oil
1/3 cup soy sauce
1/3 cup rice wine vinegar
2 cloves garlic, crushed and minced finely
1/4 inch fresh ginger, grated
black pepper
chili pepper flakes
1. Put all marinade ingredients into a zip-lock bag shake and add tuna.
2. Zip and chill for 2 hours.
3. Place steaks on a hot grill.
4. And turn after 3 minutes and cook for three more minutes.
When it's done call me so I can make sure it's OK
I got this off of http://www.recipezaar.com/
And your guess is as good as mine as to what 1/4 inch of ginger means.

No matter what you cook it in....DO NOT overcook Albi. It goes from delicous  to nasty  in about 1 minute of overcooking. Gotta be still nice and pink and semitranslucent in the middle when you pull it off the grill. It will continue to cook through while your serving.
I'm going to have to score another tuna, I'm slobbering all over my keyboard here.
I guess it was Italian dressing.
I don't think you can do wrong with that fish unless you overcook it like Miss B Haven mentioned.
Thanks a lot folks,
Kevin
