Seems like everyone has thrown in the towel. Is this true everyone?

I fished last weekend and the lower unit on my Merc started making some knocking noises...... so I am done for the year and I fear it's going to be an expensive off season :passout:

O no! Thats terrible luck. It just has gotten cold so quick with no warmer weather. I really think people have given up.

I gave up a few months ago when it was no longer getting light before 7am.

I was thinking about hitting a small pond and see what happens.
I'm not giving up!!!! I might try Sunday at a nearby lake or pond. I caught a 3 pounder last Friday and had lots of bites, so I still have hope.

Midnghtshdw and I went to silver lake yesturday and fought the cold for a while and moved to the canals, caught two small bass the resorted to crappie and bluegill. We got tired after 200 or so and called it a day. Water temp was 43 degrees

For me it is, at least on the Columbia. My last trip ended yesterday. Lots of rain, a little snow, a few fish, and lots of good times. Gonna switch to winter walleye and start tying leaders and flies for spring salmon and summer trout next year.

You guys that are catching these crappie, do they have any size to them? I mean, anything over a pound or a pound and a half? Thanks.

Out of the 200+ we caught, 15 or so were keepers. As far as the weight, not sure, but was some good relaxing fun...

Thanks. Are they just hanging out everywhere, schooled, scattered, depth? I hear canals are good this time of year.

Well after the trip on Saturday(11/14) I am now willing to say it is almost over. I will likely still make at least one more trip but time will tell.
Saturday was the slowest day in Nov. on the Willy in Salem I have ever had according to my logs that go back 8 years. I landed one and lost one right at the boat and my backseater got blanked.

They are everywhere within the canals that run along side of the Silver Cove Rv resort, Hall Rd. and Streeters Rd. Every Cast is a winner. I would have to say about every 15-20 fish, there is a keeper.

How long does this crappie season last? I have never really explored it. It might be something to occupy my fishing time till next season.
