I grew up in Vancouver fishing with my father(Thumper).

In 7th grade(28 years ago) I met my life long friend Clayton Nellis.

For those of you who have spent years fishing the Mouth of the Lewis it would be hard to do so without knowing the Nellis Family.

Non, Bud, Jim, and Randy grew up in Vancouver on a family farm near where Vancouver Mall now stands. They grew up hunting and fishing all over Clark County.

As far as fishermen and catchermen at the Mouth of the Lewis there are none better. I always say... "My father taught me how to fish, The Nellis' taught me how to CATCH FISH!"

Although I have not lived in Vancouver since 1987 I have still managed to hunt deer and elk with them, as well as spending hundreds of days fishing with them over the years. I spent more time with Clayton's Uncles hunting and fishing than with my own. They truly are my second family.

Well, for as long as I can remember this family was always one that enjoyed the most out of life. Smiling and laughing and bringing everyones spirits up around them to meet their own. To me, they truly are amazing people.

It looks as though hard times have come upon them.

Brother Bud has been struggling with his health for the last few years and looks as though he may be nearing the end of his fight!

I got word this morning from Brother Randy saying, "Bud is still with us - he is peaceful and most likely in a coma. We'll keep you posted."

I could go on and on with this thread... But the thought remains the same.

SPECIAL HUGS TO MY NELLIS FAMILY! Keep smiling and doing the best you can. We all know Bud would want it that way.

Rest easy Bud! Know you are in out thoughts and prayers..

Next time I am out fishing... Half asleep with my rod in my hands and I get a tug tug tug on the end of my line...:bigshock:I will know its YOU Bud... Making me jump... and waking me up... just like you did so many years ago!

Rest Easy Bud! You will always be in our thoughts and prayers!

The enclosed pics are from 2 years ago...In early September on Brother Randy' Birthday. A day I will never forget... Long live Team Nellis!:flowered:

Certainly some familiar faces. It's great that you were able to develop some cherished memories with them.

My thoughts to you and the Nellis family.

I knew Bud (Chuck) from work. I never fished with him, but for a couple of years he was my direct supervisor, and every time I went in for a performance review, mostly what we talked about was salmon fishing, or elk hunting. He truly loved the outdoors. He is a kind, generous, and diplomatic man. It has been really sad seeing his health deteriorate the last few years. I know a lot of other people thought as highly of Chuck as I did.

Thanks Guys,

Well,

I got the good and bad news today...

Looks as though Bud has checked into the great fishing lodge in the sky....:flowered:

He suffers no more... and will now live as the angel that guides our adventures and watches over us.

He is welcomed by many and missed by so many more...

Rest easy Bud! You and your spirit will never be forgotten!

There are many, many mouth of the Lewis fishermen who know the Nellis family. Many great stories. I learned a lot about fishing there from Jim especially.

Sorry to hear that we've lost one of the family.:flowered:

Location: Vancouver,

I remember a guy struggling to land a chinook by himself a few years back and Bud impulsively jumped into his boat to help him net it. All classy guys to be sure. I also realize I've been calling Non "Norm" for the last 15 years...whoops.

Prayers sent for the family.

The accomplishments and success of a man won't be found in banks but in the memories and hearts of his loved ones and friends.

Thanks for the kind words...

Non... is Norm... and Bud... is Chuck...

But I can honestly say... I have to think hard to remember that... I just always called them by their nicknames....

Sorry to hear about Chucks passing. I knew him as Chuck. He lived in Mt. Vista when I moved here 30 years ago. We fished several times years ago and even played tennis. Our son's went to school together (Andy).

Saw him regularly when I fished the mouth of the Lewis.

You are right that he was a class act.

Rest in peace Chuck.
