Anyone know of an outlet to buy flat strand rubber for making jigs? Apox. cut 36 stand flat, barlows and jet craft tell me it is no longer avaiable. Need brown and black if anyone has some they are not using would buy it from them. Thanks for any help.

I have never made my own jigs, but I have gone and gotten free rubber innertubes from bicycle shops.......we use chunks of innertube and some dowel for "keepers" to hold electrical cord together.

Try livingrubber.com but don't order over the internet. The last time I did I never heard anything back.

I think what your looking for is "fine flat" living rubber, or frogs hair....nobody cuts it anymore, and hasn't for several years. There continues to be rumors about it being cut overseas, and made available here, but as of now, no dice. most people seeking fine rubber have to settle for the fine round, but as I'm sure you already know, it really doesn' have quite the same action....it is a good alternative though. There are a few jig manufactures that have small reserves of frogs hair, but I haven't seen a retail outlet carrying it for quite some time. If you find some, let me know....I still have a little, but use very sparingly.
Probably not the info you were hoping for, but hope it helps

fishingskirts.com has a good variety of frog hair. I get all my skirt material from them, they are awesome. I just placed a big order last night, for my new line of jigs

Fishing skirts.com is a great store, but too my knowledge they only have "fine" silicone. ( I could be wrong though:) ) There is a distinct difference in the action of silicone and rubber.....I will be checking it out though, hopefully they do have it. Fishingskirts is good info for anyone interested in tacklecraft.
