I fish a lot at McNary or Umatilla and would like to throw out a standing invitation to those who might like to come along. For night fishing during the week I usually get home from work about 3:00pm, on the water by 4:00pm and fish until 9:00pm +/-. Weekends could be day and/or night.

I know I won't be available the weekend of 10/24 but other than that I'll be fishing.

I have a covered enclosed boat with a propane heater. These are low cost/no cost comfortable trips. The only thing that I ask is for night fishing you bring your own lighted lures.

Shoot me a pm and we'll exchange phone numbers.

Mike, what are you fishing for a night? I thought there was a regulation to be done fishing by dusk so I'm in the "learn something new" mode.

I've heard the walleye are great up there. Is that what you go after and why at night? So many questions...

Fishing for steelhead. Oregon has a new law for 2009 that allows night fishing above McNary Dam. In the past, Oregonians have had to buy a Washington license and fish on the WA. side of river to fish at night.

First you heard of what, smalldog? That's there's life east of Portland, there's fish east of Portland or fishing is allowed at night above McNary Dam to the stateline?

Oregon Regulations (http://www.dfw.state.or.us/fish/docs/2009_oregon_sport_fishing_regs.pdf) Page 94 or search for McNary

Angling for salmon (June 16-Dec. 31) and adipose fin-clipped steelhead (Jan. 1 - March 31 and June 16-Dec. 31) is allowed 24 hours/day in open waters from McNary Dam upstream to the OR/WA border.

This is a fishery made relatively famous by Fear-No-Fish and lighted plugs. The original Vortex plugs have gone out of business and now Brad's lighted wigglers are the most common plug used. We are going to try the Wazzit, lighted spin-an-glow, for the first time this year.

I go quite a bit so I thought I throw out an offer for open seats.

Hey Mike, That's a real cool offer. Next time I'm headed out your way I'll shoot you a PM and see what's happening. I've got one lighted Brads and no Wazzats. I've always wanted to try night fishing.

Mike

Are you still fishing above McNary? Do you troll wigglers up there?

I am new to area and trying to figure out how to fish these new locations.

Thanks,

I took advantage of Stinkbait's generous offer, and just would like to post a public thank you for a great time. Accommodations were first class, the fishing lesson was invaluable, and he even gave me the lucky side of the boat to catch my first 2 McNary steelhead (1 keeper). Thanks, Mike.:meme:
