On October 10, 2009 larry Jansen passed away in his sleep. We lost a great Man, Grandfather and Sports legend. I am his oldest Grandson. I remember growing up as a young kid not knowing who this suntanned man was that showed up at Grandma's house in October. I came to know him better after his retirement on many hunting and fishing trips. His boat, named the "5 and 5" (some of your dads will remember him), fished and crabbed out of Garibaldi. I was on many of those trips. I was with him on the last trip the "5 and 5" took. I remember catching a couple of fish and cutting myself really bad with a rusty knife on his boat. Later we talked Grandpa into on more trip on a nice day up off of Cape Falcon. He had to sit and fight his fish, kneel to bait his hook, but the result was 8 chinook in the box by him, His Son in law(my Dad). Me(his Grandson), and My son, his great Grandson.
