I wanted to post this interview Kirk Cameron did with Francis Chan. What I love about Francis is he lives so passionately and deeply for Christ but he is so practical and matter-of-fact. He was two books out and I am on the second book which is titled "Forgotten God: Reversing Our Tragic Neglect of the Holy Spirit". These are wonderful reads that prompt a lot of conversation and reflections on how we live our lives as those who are in Christ.
This interview was such a blessing for me to watch. We all know that life seems to be spinning faster and becoming more uncertain every day. There are a lot of hurts in the world. I read posts in this room sometimes and just sit and cry because the agony is so real. We are all hurting and needy, not to mention closer to dying each waking day. We need something that we can be certain of...something to put our hope and trust in that will not mislead or desert us.

When losing my home due to financial struggles this spring I realized that NOTHING is promised to be certain like the promise of salvation for those who trust Jesus. In times of shakiness where everything is blowing around in the wind we have a solid rock, a constant who never fails!!
My hope is we can all be restored in giving our hurts and cares up to Him. He is faithful and in these times will be there to see you through. Losing my home was so easy for my wife and I because we trusted God wanted us out of it. It seemed it demanded too much of us financially and God was telling us to hold it with an open hand...and let go! This was especially notable since we just had our new baby girl on March 25th.
I had no idea what a testimony it would be to our unsaved friends and what an encouragement it would be to the Christian brothers and sisters around us. God is really showing us the blessings in trusting him. We have tons of opportunity to reach the community surrounding our new home. We also are having the youth group here.
May we all find strength, comfort, hope and peace in the cross. God never promised we wouldn't have trials, pain, suffering or difficulties. But he did promise that he would be enough to get us through it. Read the beginning of Job. You see all he lost and he immediately fell to the ground and worshiped!!! Do we have that heart for God? Do we see Him as that great?? Do we all realize how much the unsaved around us need US to emulate the love of Christ and be a light in the world?
(PLEASE realize I am not downplaying the severity of tragic loss and suffering. I am just trying to remind us all that we worship a GOD who can relate!!! HE knows suffering greater than we and he cares about our hurts, he wants us to hand them to him in faith!)
All I know for sure is this: there was an event that happened in human history. A man named Jesus came, lived a perfect life, revealed the root of our problems was the heart and misplaced worship (since we ALL worship something!), died on the cross and absorbed the full wrath of God. He made a promise that if we believe and trust him with our lives and hand over them in worship that he will save us from satan, sin and death. His promise is for ALL WHO CHOOSE TO BELIEVE!! He spoke this promise and is WILL NOT CHANGE.
:yeahthat:That is the only thing I know for sure. We don't believe by a hunch or by a "i think" or a "i really HOPE so!". We worship because 2000 years ago something indeed happened, not probably maybe, and changed it the future of man for eternity. It rocked history and it gave us a real, living anchor that we can hold on to in the shakiest of times. That is radical!!! We are so blessed and rich beyond imagination!!
I love you all and hope that we can continue to bless and encourage eachother in these incredibly difficult times. Praise God for his unfailing love and strength. If you don't know about the true Jesus Christ, please PLEASE contact one of the godly men or women that post in this room. I want you to know the riches of his love and blessings that I and others in here experience :throb:. It is so amazing that we cannot keep it to ourselves, nor to we feel deserving of them. We HAVE to share with others because God is too great to keep in our little box for ourselves. He cannot be contained!!
Praise Jesus Christ, a man of sorrows, acquianted with grief.
