Grande Ronde Help

I am heading to the Ronde tomorrow to fly fish. Never fly fished before and would like some tips. On flys and location.

Should I bring my casting rod also for bait or jigs.?

you can catch plenty of fish on flies down there.
any classic steelhead pattern will do. I like to skate dries this time of year. A small egg sucking leech would be a good bet if you want to fish just one fly.
I;d fish from the state line to the bottom of Shumaker. There is a lot of good water in there and most of it is easily accessed from the road.

Bottom end is fishing well, but bring your own rock.:D
