I'm heading down to Oregon State this year with a new fly fishin' itch! Wondering if anyone knows of some good trout water near there. Also, looking for a decent fly shop. Last place I went down there carried flies, but lacked any knowledge.
GO BEAVS!

There's a new fly shop opened up on Kings Blvd. It's next to Rice's Pharmacy but I don't know the name of it (just down from Freddy's). As far as fly fishing that is close by, I know I have seen folks up on the Santiam fly fishing, the Big Elk towards Toledo/Newport and also the Alsea, although it's few and far between when I do see them.

I believe the fly shop in corvallis is called the Backcountry Fly shop. I have been in there a few times, they are very nice and helpful.

Yeah its the Backcountry Fly Shop. Just North west of Fred Meyers on Kings. There is some good trout water on the Middle Willamette around Irish Bend/Marshall Island. There are also the santiam rivers (North, Mid, South). But by far the best is the Mckenzie river for trout about 40 mins away.

Alsea, Santiams, Siletz, McKenzie, MF Willy, Metolius, Quartzville Cr., Lucky, are all within a 2 hour drive from Corvallis. It's a great central location for a fly fisher. Just remember not to schedule any classes before 10 am during winter term! (hint: if you haven't targeted steelhead yet, you need to)

Go see Mitch at Two Rivers Fly Shop in downtown Albany. He has things dialed in well and his assortment of flies and supplies is a bit better than the shop in Corvallis in my opinion. Visit them both and pick up on the energy.

For close fly fishing, take the Peoria Rd. south to Harrisburg. It will intersect with 99E, then follow to the southern edge of town and turn right on LaSalle St. Go the two blocks to the end of the street and park in front of the road barricade. Follow the river trail upstream and pass under the bridge. Above the bridge is lots of productive trout water. From OSU campus you will be fishing in under 45 minutes

Full Draw,
I am a steelhead kind of guy a little more than trout.
When I go fishing I am usually looking for someone to spit gas. PM me if you are intereted. My efforts usually include the Deschutes, the mckenzie, the alsea, and the siletz.
