I don't know for sure where I am going this upcoming weekend but the Deschutes around Maupin is an option. I will be targeting trout and I just want to know how it is holding up as far as fishing. I know the rafters are all over that stretch so maybe a little ways above or below will be better. Any recomendations on patterns and sections of river?

Rafting is pretty much over with. If you go above Harpham Flat up the river, you will be above 99% of the rafters that are still hanging in there. Later you can go down river and fish when they are done. White River is putting a little color in the river today, but should clear up when it cools. Lots of Steelhead above Maupin now, so expect anything. good luck and tight lines.

I fished a week ago below maupin, hooked one on a size 6 skunk. This last monday in the same area...no takers. We stayed above the white because it was way off color

You can do no wrong nymphing with a Peacock double bead stone as your dropper fly. In fact, this time of year, I fish two Peacock stones as steelhead absolutely murder them. Between me and my friends, we have about 40 steelhead on these this season.
Trout love them too.
I was at the mouth two days ago and it was way off color. I would stay above the White.
