Nobody is currently building them, but I'm sure the molds are around somewhere. Nestucca would know.

Royal crown in fort hill still has the molds. I don't think they have built a crown for years. Might want to stop by and ask!

I have a 26 crown...a bit narrow for the length, which makes them a bit more tippy but also gives great fuel efficiency. Real light semi v makes them pound on step unless you have trim tabs, then they cut the chop like butter.
knew a guy awhile back that gave his 26 to the Seascouts in Portland...His had a small inboard diesel with a keel and shaft drive. Mine has a volvo duoprop.
There was a nice one for sale in Florence last fall...
there ya go...lots of info and none of it helpful.
I know lots about them if you have any other questions.

Nestucca specializes in rebuilding Crowns. He had one for sale recently. I'm not sure if it is still available.

Nestucca's your boy. He can't build one from scratch, but he has worked miracles doing some rebuilds. Beautiful results. If you were at the Dory Days event at the Cape this summer, his current boat was down there, the one with the offshore bracket and the crowd around it.

Just to be clear...a 26 is not a dory for beach launching...those are 22's
The 26 was the same basic mold lengthened out and a semi vee bottom added...mostly made for the commercial troll fleet...I have never seen 2 exactly the same...hence the name Crown "Custom"

I believe the last, or nearly the last Crown Dory was built in 1989. If you can find a hull, and the exterior fiberglass hull is not cracked, the rest of the boat is rebuildable. If you are looking for a new 'molded' fiberglass dory, you might want to contact "fishndad" on "The Salty Dogs" thread? I believe Harvey Boats are going to make a new mold off his 25' Harvey? Otherwise, you'll just have to find a '70s./80s.' 26' Crown and build it your way. I've completely restored two 22'ers. to modern-day standards, and repaired a number of others.
Just for the record... The 26 footer came first. In the mid/late 70s., there was a great demand for the Pacific City/Cape Kiwanda dory. The "King" family cut 4' off the stern of a 26 footer, and cut the "V" bow off and replaced it with a flat-bottom bow, and built the 22' mold. Hence, the 22 foot, flat bottom Crown dory was born. "Grain of Salt is right about the interiors having many different configurations. Crown Custom built the interior to the buyers request. (also different cabin configurations)Good luck HardHatter.

Roy King told me they built a total of around 150 to 170, 22s & 26s. (No records) I know for sure of 115, up to 1981. Roy just sold the company to his son, Randy. It is now called "Randy King Fiberglass. Randy still does repairs.

My ex-wife recently told me her dad is going to sell his Crown '22. One of the nicest boats down there. I fished out of it for 7 years. PM me if your interested and I'll get what info you need.
