Well, I went to the eye doctor for a check up and they found a spot on my left eye. Best case scenario is it's a freckle. Worst case it's a Melanoma. May be benign or malignant. Might have radiation or very worst case lose my eye.
I just need some help. I'm hoping for the best of course, but am getting weary waiting for the appointment in 2 weeks. Lots of things going through my head about life. I'm kinda lost.
Just a good thought my way and a mental hug would really be appreciated.

If it is malignant remember the fight with cancer can be won...I did it.

Mindy,
It's so easy to get ahead of ourselves and get wrapped up in the "what if", but we really are exhausting ourselves with needless fret. All that energy gets us nothing.
However, if you redirect your concern to a prayer that includes
your concern( the spot, the unknown outcome ) and
a recognition of you fear, and
recognition of His sovereignity .
You will find a peace that will come to you like a comforting blanket.
I know it works for me !

It's so easy to get ahead of ourselves and get wrapped up in the "what if", but we really are exhausting ourselves with needless fret. All that energy gets us nothing.
However, if you redirect your concern to a prayer that includes
your concern( the spot, the unknown outcome ) and
a recognition of you fear, and
recognition of His sovereignity .
You will find a peace that will come to you like a comforting blanket.

I lost my left eye to a stroke. No vision at all, not even light.
Put what ever you need to to medically behind you.
If it's cancer, fight it!

Very wise advise. Us humans tend to live way to much in the future. It is a future that we don't even know. We can't know it, so we start to make it up. Just live in the today. Relax and work with the health care professionals. Enjoy yourself.

Thank You to all who have given advice and support. It really means a lot.
As of last Monday it has been identified as a melanoma. I am going to see another specialist this wednesday for more clarification. I was sent to the Casey Eye Institute and have been told they're some of the best.
So it's one day at a time. A little more attention to detail and extra hugs all around. Still hoping for the best.

I will repeat Keta's statement in hopes that it helps...I beat cancer with a 92 percent mortality rate (3 yrs out now) medicine has come a long way so stand tall...you can do it.

Update.... Next week is full of appointments. Blood draws, physicals, x rays, and ct scans. Wanna make sure the cancer hasn't spread. No date yet for surgery, but I'm thinking soon as the Dr. didn't want to wait a month or more to monitor growth, he wanted the surgery quickly.
Spiritually there have been a lot of questions. Honestly I can say I don't know where my beliefs lie. I do know that it has touched my heart to know so many people are taking just that minute out of thier day to think of me and my health. That a stranger would do that for another is so beautiful and so very much appreciated.
I never really thought of it before, reading this section and sending well wishes and prayers all this time. It wasn't until I truly needed help that the magnitude of just what it was, hit me. I'm greatful and humbled.
Thank you all. I hope this post can do justice to what it is I'm truly feeling in my heart towards you all.

this will point out A LOT of things you may have missed before. That "big c" call does that to a person. I stayed up digging a flower bed until around 2 a.m. the night before surgery because I didn't want my wife to some day say " man , he never did finish that flower bed like he said he would"...totally stupid thought process but it got me through the night. From someone that has been there, stand tall and don't question where your strength comes from. I REALLY like the man that couple of days proved me to be and hopefully you will have the same experience. When life gives you lemons it is still sour lemonade without a little sugar so dwell on the good stuff. Now my signature is not just a funny saying from a bathroom wall..you cannot get out alive so embrace life now..peace and good thoughts to you.. C.C.

Mindy, their are several wonderful old and new testament stories in the bible that tell of the great love that God has for us even in our darkest times. My favorite has got to be that of the 3 Hebrew children tossed into a fire for not following the kings orders about not worshiping other gods, a fire that was heated up to 7 times hotter than normal. Upon opening up the door to check up on the process, he was stunned at what he saw and had to ask the people about the number they had thrown in the fire. He than stated that their where now 4 in the fire, not just the 3, and the fourth looked like the Angle of the Lord.
You may feel like your in that fire now and not sure which way to turn, but remember HE is with you always. Whether you are in the Vally of the shadow or on the highest mountain top their is always a light present shinning over you.
May i share a little word with you.
Prov 3.5 says to TRUST in the lord with all your heart, and lean not on your OWN understanding, but in all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your paths. Don't take your eyes off him because he knows what will come into your life.
Psalms 34 1-4 I will bless the Lord at all times, his praise will continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in thee Lord, the humble shall hear thereof and be glad. Magnify the Lord with me, let us exalt his name together, I sought the Lord and he heard me and delivered me of ALL my fears.
Keep your focus on Him and your words of praise be directed to wards him, to do so will allow you little time to think about the fire your going through.

Well, I go in Tuesday, the 3rd, to insert a nickel sized plaque with radiation in it on my left eye over the cancer. It will stay sewn to my eye for a week and then come out. Hopefully that exposure to the radiation will kill the cancer for good with minimal side effects!
It's all pretty straight forward and going so fast! I'm actually excited! Thank You all for your support! I'm gonna beat this! My Cat scans and x rays came out clear so it hasn't spread! It's all good!
