I'm new to fly fishing. We're going to try Gold Lake and a few near-by hike-in lakes next week. We have a small two man raft. Any suggestions about what wet or dry patterns to use. My guidebook says matching the hatch can be tricky and if there isn't a hatch to troll nymphs.

Troll maroon, black, or olive bead head mini leeches. Have some Ant patterns in case there is a strong breeze (the wind blows the ants into the lake) some other "terrestrial" patterns might work well too. Have a few adams', mayfly, and caddis patterns.

Don't know anything about East Lake in particular, but I think trolling flies is about your only option out of a two man raft. Trying to cast could be interesting ...
Good luck!
