So here it goes.

I moved here a few years ago from California. One of the things that I told myself I would do in moving to Oregon is learn to fish. When I say fish, I do of course mean real fishing, not just throwing a worm on and waiting. I want to learn skill. In order to do this I bought a Willie Drift boat.

Now here is the situation- I have had a recent back surgery, so I am not as mobile as I would like to be. I have the boat, but no motor, so I would need somebody to be able to help me rowing. And of course to help show me some fishing techniques.

I hear steelies are hitting right now at Mciver park, so I would love to give this a go.

I am open to fishing anytime throughout the day, but would prefer bright and early in the AM.

Also, I am open to going later in the week if interested. Maybe Thursday or even Friday.

Please give me a call if interested.

Expect to have to hop out twice during that run to pull the boat across a gravel bar in the middle of the river.

I'd rethink working that stretch with a bad back. You might want to look to fish Barton down for silvers this week. Try running small plugs and casting/drifting spinners.

Stop by Fishermans' Marine Supply and they'll help you with your setups and gear, and maybe even give a few suggestions on the type of water to look for.

IMO, if you've never run that in any craft I wouldn't try it in a hardboat this time of year. Upper ramp rapid is doable at the current flow but you will be having NO fun around the corner below(at the minefield). You will be banging at almost every exit from drifts and doing some dragging in other spots as mentioned. If you put in at the lower ramp you might enjoy the ride better. BUT the exit from that hole is going to be bumpy as well. Lowest I ran the lower was 850cfs, doable but noisy. I have some better advice for you if you want to PM me, not going to post it on the web or I might get lynched.

Barton is the typical takeout if you put in at McIver. Barton to Carver is usually riddled with a million drunk floaters on every random floating apparatus you can find. The poor weather this week though, might damper some of that though.
