I have a Yamaha Saltwater II prop size 19 15 1/4 on a F225 on my NR 21 Seahawk. I can only get up to 6000 RPM when completely trimmed up to the very very top (never trim this high). The usual trim up to 3 or so bars gets me around 5600-5700. Trimmed completely down is 5400. Am I lugging my engine with this prop? Do I need to go down a size so that I am getting to 6000 rpm at more "normal" trim levels? Also, I am getting these levels with just me in the boat with a full tank (70 gallons) of gas.

I'd drop down a bit on the pitch. I shoot for the correct rpm when the boat is loaded like you normally run it.

I have the same prop on my OS. Love it. For me it gave me what I was loosing in prop wash loss. My mileage went up Like on a butt run I would
burn 33 gal. Now on the same run I burn 27 gal. I have better hole shot
and faster on plane. For Me it was the right prop change.
With that size of prop you are going to loose something.
Did you go from the stock 19 x 13 black prop ??

I went from a Yamaha reliance 21 X 13 SS. There is a "new" Yamaha reliance 18 X 14 1/2 that looks like it might be a good fit. Also, I didn't lose really any top speed in my change but I did gain much better hole shot/on plane.
