Maybe different for each species? Salmon, sturg, Deer, Duck etc. Or maybe just a hunting and a fishing.

How about starting a thread for each seat available, much like the classifieds? Nobody will have to wade through the messages to see if one pertains to them, the title should give a clue as to what type it is.

The caveat to that would be that open seats aren't necessarily just for rivers or fishing. It could be lakes, a hunting trip or a backpacking trip etc. "open Seat" is a pretty broad term for many different activities.

I suggest two large groups (hunting and fishing) then sub-sets of that would be by region/location.

Open seats are really going to be location based. If I'm in Portland, I'm not going to Brewster (not likely anyway) to fish for summer Chinook up there.......

For example, for fishing, open seats could be by watershed, or by region (eastside vs westside if you didn't want to get too fine with it)

Should move the free passing it forward thread to the classifieds also. Clean up some of the stickies.

This seems to work and maybe it will cure your problem with the overly long thread on the old open seats area. However, I used to be able to just scan the main board and see if anything new was posted on open seats without even opening that thread. Now I have to do a lot of clicking around to get the info I want...click to get to the open seats forum, click and scroll to read every thread. Then click back to the main board. The old way was easier for me.
