Okay mine is really really hot. its hooked up to the wash basin built into the transom. My old t-8 was hardly ever hot and in the winter it was barely warm. But now with my new boat, the t-8 is borderline SCALDING and the pee water is luke warm.

any help?

thanks

It's plumbed correctly this time! The tell-tale water isn't supposed to be hot, but when the hot water tap is plumbed into the thermostat housing you get HOT water. What I do is run it until the basin is full, then I shut the valve off, until I want to warm the sink back up. You don't want to run the hot water all the time, because the motor will never fully warm up like it's designed to. Also your old one sounds like it was just tee'd into the tell-tale line before and that is why you didn't get very warm water.

Yep, my last 2 boats were plumbed that way and it can get scalding hot when the motor is warm. Mine was done with the kind of valve you are referring to.
