I lost a friend the other day. Please pray for the families of the soldiers killed in Iraq. I met Earl during training for this deployment. He and his wife have horses. He was going to show me how to ride so I could pack into Hells canyon when I drew tags.

It is another great loss. He will be missed!

Yep Mitch thats Earl in Kuwait right before we came to this hell hole. I got a great surprise to day from Bruce Wassom of Rogue Jet. Out of the Blue he sent pictures of his last year Elk trip into the Salmon River country. It was a much need boost. it seems like every time I lose another one it gets harder and harder to pull myself up by the boot straps.

I understand, that is why I am here. I will have the resources available for you to fish the minute you come home. Until then its great to look at pics, somehow its easy to forget what you have back home. Especially when you are so far away, and very distracted, and somewhat disconnected. I will cast a few lines into the river with your name on 'em.
Healing waters await you, as you can see here. Stay safe and sain.

Your buddy Earl will be arriving at PDX on Friday. I will do my best to be there, and get some pictures. There will be an outpouring of respect and love shown to him, his family, and his friends.

Taylor Marks arrived this AM in Salem, and was proudly escorted by the PGR to the mortuary in Independence for services there.

I got back in today from a mission. I have seen a lot of things I don't agree with come down from my leadership. They did something that I over the past couple days will be forever great full for.

The night before the memorial service we head out on a mission. We ended up with troubles here and there and were stuck on a base far from my own. I Knew I would miss the memorial service. That's just the way it is when your a soldier. Besides I felt good about saying good bye when we put him on the bird.

My command ordered us to stay put and lock up our equipment. They were sending 4 helicopters to bring us back for the Service. We made it back just in time to walk into the chapel and drop our personal gear in the back.

We were able to be there and get a little closure. We had a chance to shower, eat, and then they flew use back to complete the mission. I'm back at my base now rested from not sleeping for over 36 hours. it was worth it. The Oregon Guard took care of it's own for once.
