Uneasy about drilling holes below the water line however, am getting tired of using a bucket to wash out blood etc. ( I do have scuppers). Ive never seen a wash down system that wasnt below the water line, any Ideas?

You can hook up the intake of the washdown to a hose that you throw over the side (into the water) when you want to use the washdown.
This can double as a spare/extra bilge pump in an emergency.

Does your boat have a potable water tank ?
I have set up a few on larger boats with 55 gallon and larger tanks ...
Never ran out on day trips , and kept the salt water deluge down to a minimum ...
But a through hull setup with a screen strainer will give you unlimited washes
for as long as you like ...
You can also set up a bait tank off the thru hull in the future and still use it for a wash down pump ...:twocents:

On a Hewescraft Searunner, I simply ran the intake hose over the transom.

It was clipped into place so that in an emergency I could pull it back in and use it as another bilge pump (never had to do it ).

It worked very well.

I would never use any of the plastic/nylon thru-hull fittings that you see offered.

Great ideas yes, I have a fresh water tank however, not 55 gals ( but just maybe big enough) also, like the idea of the over the side hose especialty for bilge water my bilge pump misses, as for a live well. Plan on installing one soon. Maybe an above the water line system might work?

On my old Duckworth I mounted the washdown pump to the Aluminum tubing that protected the pump and supported the swim platform. That allowed me to run the supply tube up the outside of the transom and it came into the boat well above the waterline. Worked great and no chance of a broken fitting sinking the boat!

Frank, no problem... I would be happy to drill holes in your boat below the water line for you, just let me know when you are ready to install the wash down and I will bring my drill and head on over...:meme:

Ok, bring drill bits comprised of the same composit material as the rubber hooks you always give me when we fish. :excited:
