Hi all,
I bought a sugar sand tango with a seized 175 merc in it. the motor is shot and I'm wondering if any outboard merc power head will work? Also, if it has to be sport jet specific can i install a 240 on the existing pump?
thanks in advance

If you search this has been posted many times.
2.5 merc power head will work, but the SJ uses a speical crank, so if your crank is good then all you need to do is swap your crank into the new 2.5L block. The Std 2.5L crank will not fit the SJ pump.
The 240 power head will not fit the 175 pump.

Small fiberglass Jet boat, seats 4 or 5. Similar to a Yamaha Exciter or a Seadoo Challenger.

Well, I learned something. I didn't know 175SJ's were installed in anything other than aluminum sled boats. But it makes sense.

Lots of the small fiberglass jet ski type boats had 175SJ's in them. Some also used the OMC 115. Force made a motor for the bayliner model's for awhile too.

And those little boats with the 175 SJ haul some serious butt.
