I have always been in the habit of making my own scented corn. I have had good results with my efforts but not wanting to be one that is stuck in the way of doing things and always wanting to try something new I went out to BMart and bought a selection of Firecorn. Now I just read an article in the latest STS magazine about the wonders of this new bait so I had to go out and try it. I fished with it last Saturday on Wickiup with fair results (and it is a good thing, cause I didn't bring anything else). The article I read stated that it was firm and held up well. I would have to say I was not all that impressed with it but it seemed to work OK, yellow or gold color being the hottest set up. I have tried the redi made grubs and various other products and this seemed to produce at least as well as those. My experience is that my own anise garlic corn works as well as any scented product I have tried to date but it doesnt have the shelf life of Firecorn. Anybody else try this stuff and if so what was your opinion and what would be your favorite go to scent and or bait.

I'm a Firecorn fan. I have 3 or 4 bottles, one of which is on its 3rd season! Talk about shelf life. I have never actually "run out" of white corn, I always end up throwing away over half of every can I've ever opened. I like the pink, orange and yellow.:twocents:

Havent had great sucess with it but when the bite is really on it works ok. Im sure at the right time, in the right place, at the right depth ,at the right speed, with the right lure it would work great.:thisbig: That would be how I justify packing around 4 or 5 jars of the darned stuff!

I've been thinking about buying some to keep in my tackle box. I got out on the lake at Greenpeter yesterday before I realized I'd left the corn at home. The long shelf (tackle-box) life that Cannon mentioned makes it good to keep as a back-up. I like Jolly Green Giant corn with Pro-Cure scented oil, but I would think that Firecorn would be better than nothing.

I've done pretty well using the pink or red Firecorn in combination with regular shoepeg corn. Often times I have to pick through the Firecorn to find firm enough kernals but it does seem to produce and certainly has a long storage life!:twocents:
