Could someone give me some locations at Diamond Lake for camping? I am putting a trip together for 8-10 guys in mid-September. I am hoping to be next to the lake for boat docking and have access to RV parking and showers. some of us have trailers, some will be in tents. I've checked web sites, but would like to hear from people who have been there. Thanks

My order of preference:
1) Diamond Lake Campground http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/umpqua/recreation/camping/diamond-lake-cg/diamond-lake.shtml
2) Thielsen View Campground http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/umpqua/recreation/camping/diamond-lake-cg/thielsen-view.shtml
3) Broken Arrow Campround http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/umpqua/recreation/camping/diamond-lake-cg/broken-arrow.shtml
About 1/2 of the sites at Diamond Lake Campground can be reserved, the rest are first come first gets. There are two Shower facilities here.
All sites at Thielsen View are first come/first gets. There are no shower facilities here.
Only Group campsites at Broken Arrow can be reserved. Broken Arrow is located across the road from the south end boat ramp and none of the sites are shore side.
September 7th (Labor Day) is the last date that campsites can be reserved, so it looks like you will have to take whatever is available. With a group, you might want to consider the Group sites (K1, J1, M1 or N1) at Broken Arrow. 1 Shower facility here.
Middle of September the pressure for campsites is going to be lower, but if you are just weekending it, shore side sites might be hard to find. My strategy would be to send one person up on Thursday to acquire the best site possible, and use that as a base of operations for the group. If you are going up during the middle of the week, you should not have any problems finding a great site. Enjoy!

We are going up that Thursday. I had heard that some of the sites along Diamond have RV spots, but no electricity. Not saying that I need it, but want to look at all options.

If you want electricity, the only options are a generator or staying at the Diamond Lake RV Campground. The RV Campground is not near the water, but generally quieter, and the campsites are more compact.

I was at DL in July, mosquitos were brutal at the south end of the lake, very busy place when at that time. I'd stay at the Thielsen campground if I went back. A boat is necessity to fish the lake.

i stayed at diamond lake in july with a camper went up sunday night and got a place right on the lake. With showers not too far. Bring a generator if you want electricty. The RV camp sucks. i think we were in loop K all those spots are on the water. Most are level enough for a trailer.

Questions regarding Theilson View Campground at Diamond Lake. Anyone have any experience camping at this location? I have heard that you can beach a boat along the lake shore. I have a new 20 foot seahawk with 150 HP Yamaha and do not want to damage the motor. Is it safe to beach the boat at this location.
Thanks.
