Headin down to Crescent on Sat-Wed and doin some camping and fishing with the fam. Haven't decided if I'm gonna take the boat to do some trolling, or just my pontoon to float around. I don't have a down rigger set-up so whon't be able to fish for mac's, but would like to target some brown trout. Any advice on how to target these bad boyz? Any and all advice is appreciated!

In the Spring a few guys did well trolling your normal Rapala's or plug type baits. There trick was having 150ft plus line out the boat...going slow. This was the ticket for Browns at the time.
They also did pretty good at Mackinaw without down-riggers after they dropped several ounces of lead to the bottom and bounced it once in a while to stay in the "Zone." Of course that's because they followed my Brother and I using down riggers 10 ft above bottom. We did fantastic for 24 hrs. We caught a 14 and 18lber one evening. We then caught a 5, 17, and 20lber the next morning. I was supposed to send a pic to the lodge owner...never did, whoops. :twocents: We used big plugs...bigger than most, down deep.
Good Luck Take the boat out early/late is my advice.
