Hi All,

Came across this forum and am stoked to finally find relating to my area! :D Was gonna take my folks camping and fishing at Wickiup sometime next week and was wondering if you had any recommendations on a good area to be since its so large. It would be nice to be able to camp and walk to a bank fishing area but I realize its hard to have both. I am going to bring our canoe and I'll prolly work my float tube/fly in the evenings. Any advice is greatly appreciated

There are 3 pay campgrounds and lots of free primitive sites along both the Deschutes and 1 pay and primitive sites along the Davis arm. All are either on or right by the bank and there are lots of good bank fishing spots there too. Sheep bridge can be fantastic from a float tube if the water is high enough. Davis arm where the highway passes is a great spot for huge browns and rainbows. If you are not familiar with the area a day-trip for scouting is essential.

Thanks for the info! I will scout it this week and prolly focus on the Deschutes arm/Gull point area to start. Will have to get my line wet while I'm there

I was just there for an afternoon and I was fishing by the dam (hey it was good in MAY) ... I picked up a not-big brown but no kokanee. It looked like most of the boats were at the other end (Deschutes arm). I think I would seek the colder fresher water at the inlets. That's a pretty nice campground along the Deschutes arm there.
