Odell is looking much better, and fishing well. Visited Sunday and Monday with my dad, and the weather was great, the algea bloom over, and the water clearing. I could easily see a dodger more than 15 deep on it's way down -- a huge improvement from just last week when the lake was a hideous green/brown.

Diamond Peak was looking spectacular. These views of the mountain and the lake are from "Eagle Rock", just a short walk south on the Pacific Crest Trail from highway 58 -- an easy and rewarding hike.

Fishing was really "on" for trolling. We found schools of feeding fish scattered all over the lake. Nothing big, but lots of them, and they were cooperating:excited:. Surface temp was an unbelievable 74 degrees, so no big surprize to find the fish at 35 to 60 feet. We didn't hound the schools too hard, because we got bit as often when we weren't marking dense concentrations of fish as when we were. Plays to the theory that cruising packs of just a few fish are more agressive biters than big schools. Tried a lot of different colors but could never improve on pink. Ran a spinner for a while without a hit, so we stuck with hootchies and tubes behind dodgers. Trolling speed was a surprize -- we got many hits at 1.4 to 1.7, and far fewer from 1.0 to 1.2. We managed limits both days.
