Spent 5 days up at Diamond with family and friends. Had a great time despite the heat, the bugs, the storms, and the rock that ate my prop.

Had good action trolling very early and very late. Ran the riggers 3-4 feet from the bottom with rainbow F-4 Flatfish with a little Trout Feast Smelly Jelly with a 25-30 foot setback.

The best action for us was Powerbait or Gulp in the cheese hole in the north end of the lake. 32 feet. Double anchor. Use a sliding egg sinker with 3-4 ft. leader. Chartruse glitter or rainbow. Most came on chartruse though.

I seemed to have the "dink" attractant as I caught 6 of these, all trolling. None of the fish we caught with bait were this small.

I'm heading there in a week and and a half, but I don't have the downriggers. So, what is the best method for fishing diamond lake without downriggers? Should I just use a bananna weight, flashers and lure, or should I jig fish? If I jig, where abouts do I go and what is best to use? Thanks...looking forward to seeing what the lake has to offer, I've not been there before.

W/O down riggers, I'd stick with powerbait and still fish. I saw people trolling with flashers, but didn't see anyone catch anything. I had my flashers attached to the downrigger ball and had much more success with no flasher at all.

Pull an f-4 or f-5 frog finish flatfish with 2 ounces slow from cheese hole cutting across end of lake to the shrimp beds by the campground. Fish in about 18-28 ft. keeping fairly close to bottom..2 oz should do it..worked for me.

Great post... We were up there 7/31 - 8/4... That weather was wild. Looks like you stuck it out longer than we did.
