Had my fishing partner call me from New York and tell me of this new item they use . They let there line out to the desired depth and lock on a 9" bobber , then let out another 200' of line. So what there doing is 2 down riggers, 2 steel line Dipsy divers and a copper line rod then this new item that is catching on all thought out the south, gulf states and up the east coast. With great results

I ordered 2 dozen each of the releasers for my planer board lines. Can not believe it took this many years for some one to come up with this. Plus I ordered 2 of the SL900 for Kings on Shasta Lake, and for my MacKinaw fishing in Oregon

One thing you will need is a book called Big Water Edition Precision Trolling, in this book it will tell you how much weight and line out to archive your target depth.
Like a 4oz weight and 210 feet of line will get you down to 34 feet at 2.0 mph

Those weight cylinders remind me of the old trolling sinkers.

Most guys in the Northwest have never seen these. I have a dozen or so and I use them when I don't want to stack a downrigger. Guys from Alaska have probably seen these. I had to buy them online from Canada. The line slides thru the 2 clips and a channel in the weight, then slips in to the coil, like a dr clip. A good hook-set releases your line from the coil and it slides up to your swivel or lure.
