WARNING!
Local biologists have found the following strains of parasites on Kokanee in Oregon and Washington:
MoKnots, FallRiverGuy, SilverBullets, Fish-on-Bend, Nwsoftball, dlm, Kokonuts, Twisted lines, Splash, Joemomma, Cannon, Slammin' Kokes, Adobe wall, Dullhook, Aufish101, Woodcanoeguy, P-Ride, Kenvl46, lilbuddy, Bassin, Sucker, Flyjunkie, Dr. Stranglove, Ppbthorsen, toomanydenny, Bassman, Elktalker, Chuck83, and.....
there seems to be no known cure for or way to remove the above parasites.
Perhaps you might be able to identify some other local strains not listed here...I'm sure I'm missing some....

HEY... I resemble tha... errr... I've been called worse by better! :D
Some of those strains tend to migrate too. I remember hearing of the dreaded JZ showing up in Utah.

One notable strain is missing. It only shows up after it is not "too early". As already mentioned, it is often only found in one body of water, but has been know to appear infrequently in other bodies of water.

Biologically speaking, I believe you may have confused "parasite" with "predator."

I think that we could classify these as predators to the individual fish but parasites to the species as a whole:D, or is it a symbiotic relationship:idea:.

OK...so I'm a parasitologist! Now if you'll excuse me, I have a smoker full of specimens that needs to be inspected! :food:

The parasite you refer to seems to be less lethal since losing its balls to another parasite.:jester:
I'm glad all the parasites weren't listed. I feel better about eating the grilled kokanee night before last now...

You have to be careful about those parasites. They can be found in practically any local lake where kokanee can be found. Kokanee are not safe when these parasites are around. But if you happen to run into any of these on the water, say hello and share kokanee killing secrets!

I've been pretty harmless to the kokes this year. They must be developing immunity.....:D
