I am heading down to Detroit lake next week for my traditional 5 days of camping for the 4th. I am bringing the boat along and want to do a little trolling.

Has anyone been doing any good there?

Thanks....:flowered:

I think they just stocked with at least 10,000 trout on Monday. I was their on Sunday and caught 2 rainbow about 8-12 inch. Trolling around the island

three limits in 2 and a half hours sunday, threw back another dozen. Trolled wedding rings on fenders with the outer rods, a needlefish behind a dodger about ten feet down on a downrigger for the middle pole. Hoover area, in the no wake area. One fish went 16 inches and very fat.

Limited out (4) today trolling around the island ... wedding rings w/worms behind flashers & divers ... beautiful day on the lake! I hope your trip is as successful and fun as ours was. Good luck!

How's the algae? I heard there was a possible bloom. I hope not since we are heading up on Thursday.

I didn't see any algae up in the hoover area, but a few weeks ago, right after that windy day with all the thunder and hail, it looked like it might have been algae but I beleive it was pollen. some might have thought it was algae.

Just got back this evening, pretty windy and choppy today. Trolled for close to three hours with Ford Fenders and wedding rings-nothing! The little fish were eating the worms but not the hook-oh well, there is always next time.

Well made it out to Detroit lake for 2 days and had a blast! My plan was to fish the mornings and swim and hang out in the afternoon! Out of both days I brought approx 50 fish to the boat, the largest only being 14 inches!! Could not find any pigs!! All fish were released unharmed. The hot setup was a #3 diver with large lake troll blades with a green and black wedding ring.. Oh and I tipped it with a pautzkie salmon egg!

Seen another ifisher out there, you even drove right past me! You were in a red sled, don't remember what brand of boat!

Detriot has been good the last three time I've gone. This past weekend was busy as hell due to the 4th. But its a big lake. If you strike out there(which you would probably have to work at), Big cliff has been really promising. My buddys friend pulled out one 17 and one 20 incher out of big cliffs the weekend before last. Have fun and catch the big one!!!!!!

If you want to catch big fish, not as many fish deep off Windy point, towards the dam! My :twocents:

Fished off the dam Monday morning with a co-worker. We brought 3 to the top. All were 12-14" nice fat fish. Powerbait was the food of choice.
