Well I attempted to go fishing near Elkton on Sunday and was greeted by a buck at the intersection of Hwy 138 and Mehl Creek Road. The darn deer jumped up and struck my hood then projectiled into my windshield on the passenger side. My wife and dog took the brute of the exploding glass and deer hair. She and the dog are fine, but my truck is getting fixed by my local body shop. The shop said the cost is about $5000...THANK YOU FOR INSURANCE:applause:

I will be back down there this weekend, in my wife's SUV and hope it don't get damaged:pray:

Just wanted to let everyone know watch for those pesky deer while out doing what we love. Let it be a reminder that a second on the road can change everything...:passout:

Be safe all,
Rick

Crazy how a guy can spend a week afield hunting for them, and never see a single animal - but on the way home one of the devils jumps in front of his speeding truck (wonder if he'd have to tag it :D)

Sorry about your truck - hope the fishing next weekend makes up for it.

Here's your sign. Wasn't meant to be that day. So, what happened to the deer?

It if makes you feel better, I was on the Umpqua that day and it wasn't that good. Lots of wind and just enough rain to soak everything.

Thats a bummer about the truck but glad everyone was alright. You definately didnt miss much on the fishing, I floated Saturday down to Elkton and left Sunday with the rain coming down. Cloudy and windy all weekend with nothing but dinks. Try fishing deeper holes next weekend, seemed like anything with any size was deeper.

That really sucks! He wasn't a little forkie was he? We almost nailed him about halfway up to the slide on Saturday morning. Bass fishing was excellent on Saturday, also caught some nice pumpkinseeds and greenears. With the warmer weather this week you should nail them! Best lures were 2.5" GULP! minnows, Chartreuse 3" yamamoto grubs, and purple 3" senkos on a leadhead. Have a blast!

Wow, glad everyone is ok. Sure puts a damper on a trip.
After hitting 3 deer myself, I put a skinning knife in the truck......have yet to hit one since.

Yup, forked horn...my accident was at the intersection of Hwy 138 and Mehl Creek Road (Henderer Road connect). We looked for the broken antler this last weekend, but only found the rotten carcase of the darn deer. Stunk like no tomorrow.
