Newb Questions!

Consider me to be a newborn, to fly fishing, I am travelling to the Valley of the Rogue for fishing come August, basically fishing in that area. I have a few questions regarding fishing in that area. What kind of trout are in the area. What kind of fly’s should I be looking for or buying. Does anyone know any guides down that way that I can learn something from? What Kind of setup should I look for? I have a 6wt fly rod, and old school eagle eye. Not sure what type of line it has, can anyone explain how to put a tippet on? Or is there a good book I can be referred too?

That time of ear there is normally a hatch of Caddis. As for Rods a 6 wt will be fine. Summer time I always use a floating line with a light leader. Good luck rp

Go online and order a used copy of The Curtis Creek Manifesto. It's great for beginners and explains a lot of the gear and lingo in a fun manner.

It also covers the knots you need to learn to start out.
