After you have trolled for hours with no success , you might want to start thinking about serving the King some sushi.
Here are a couple of my go to set ups , when the King is not hitting the typical items we buy at a tackle store. Get your self some Anchovies and fillet both sides of the fish. Then take one of your wife's Tupperware containers and pour some non-iodized salt in the bottom of the container. ( cover the bottom generously ) make a layer of fillets on the bottom and cover with more salt.Then repeat until all your bait is in the container. Place in the refrigerator 24 hours before use. When your done fishing place the unused bait in the freezer until your next trip.
Now you can not get any better scent than Anchovies , but it's not just the scent that draws the King to feed. It will most likely be the vibration he will pick up in his lateral lines and the come to investigate , that is when he will pick up the scent and strike to feed him self. Put the largest end of the fillet at the top of the hook and push all the way to the eye. Place one of the hooks on the treble in the lower end. Hook up behind one of your favorite dodgers and get after it. Hope this help some out.
My Squid and Hoochies are all 4" & 6", my flies are 3" and 4" Buck tails are 4"
