Dad and I will be float tubing this weekend. I'm not much of a lake fisherman but we will be giving it a shot this weekend.

My criteria are: sizable trout, catchability of trout, and scenery.

Right now my thoughts are (in no order): Crane, East, Lava or Little Lava, either Rock Creek Res or Pine Hollow, possibly one of the Mt Hood Lakes (Clear, Trillium, etc.), maybe Hosmer...

I don't know. We have floating lines. Any help guys?? In Portland willing to drive where big fish are...

I'd rather catch a few nice ones than catch dinks all day long. Thanks...

If you only have floating lines, you should go hit Crane.

find the creek beds, use BIG chironomids on long leaders. put the chironomids about a foot off the bottom... wait... and wait for the reels to scream.

Thanks stillwater...Crane is my #1 choice...by big chironomids do you mean like a size 10?

blood midges or any other recommendations?

I've heard fishing the river channels is best...does it matter which one? Do I need to be close where the rivers actually come into the lake?

Thanks...

Diamond Lake...................south end weed beds. Float tubes will work just fine. Big trout! Great scenery!

you wanna find the channels in the middle of the lake as well as back into the arms... a depth finder is key - channel marking bouys are sweet too...
