Would like to install Teleflex Power Steering unit on my boat, due to very stiff steering.
Has anyone done this as a DIY project? Has it improved your steering?
Thanks in advance

The power assist definitely makes a world of difference. You can steer trip 300's by finger with a PA. That said, there may be other reasons why things are "stiff." For instance, using ATF instead of the mineral oil can make a HUGE difference. Steering systems using ATF can be MUCH harder to steer. There also calculations for how many fittings and feet of hose are in the boat - and that also can make a very big difference. If you want, give me a call to chat about it (of course, no charge for phone calls).

I think someone on this board just did their boat. It will be money well spent. Like the post before said you can steer with one finger or you can take your hands off the wheel and the boat wont pull to the right.
I would think it wouldn't be that hard to do. the hardest part would be getting all the old cables out.
